The Key to Sanity

Grandma Angie Lyman had a habit of taking several naps a day, usually
only 20 minutes long. She told me that she started doing that when
Uncle George was born, which would make her about 35. As she got
older the naps were more frequent. She was known for her "spunk", and
got s lot accomplished every day.
I had forgotten her wisdom. I feel SO much better if I can get a short
rest midday. She knew that rejuvenating yourself is important and
makes you better able to function the rest of the time.
I have learned the hard way to respect her wisdom.
A TWENTY MINUTE NAP IS THE KEY TO SANITY.

It was clear this morning so we had to take a picture of the Oakland
and San Francisco skyline.

New missionaries

This is a group of new missionaries from the MTC. We hot to go because
we're new also. There were 18 missionaries this transfer from China, 2
fron the Phillipines, Mexico, one illegal Latino, Taiwan, Oklahoma, a
few from Utah, Washington, and Oregon and more.

This is the dining area. Three of the four chairs are broke, so we'll
have to work on that one.

We came home to lunch yesterday to find the police going door to door
because our landlord heard a blood curdling scream across the street.
The policeman couldn't find the source though.

This is the living room. The furniture all belongs to the mission, but
I think we got the best of it. We're still waiting on Internet, but
the heat/air was turned on yesterday.

previous couple who lived here.

MTC Office Missionaries

This is our district:
Elder and Sister Tsang, who are going to Taiwan,
Elder and Sister Bleak, who are going to Washington DC North,
Elder and Sister Wyman, who are going to Eugene Oregon,
And of course Elder and Sister Lyman who leave for Oakland/San
Francisco tomorrow.
We have had a great experience together.

MTC Week One Report - A RECONVERTED MISSIONARY

Well we have survived one week of being a missionary. To be honest, the first 2 days, I wondered what-in-the-heck we were doing there. Everything was strange, and people a lot older than I am were in the classes with me. The family was doing OK without me, but I still wanted to be with them. I wanted my own bed, and didn't want to read the scriptures or Preach My Gospel.
I am here to say, that I am a reconverted missionary! I have been amazed at my own transformation, as the young men who are our teachers have brought us along and trained us to share the gospel in many different ways. We have met some very wonderful people, who are going all over the world at their own expense. Some have difficult family situations that they are leaving, and they all had insights to share as we learned together. It would be a privilege to serve with them anywhere. I have come to love Preach My Gospel. What a great manual!
So bottom line is that we are ready to be missionaries and look forward to serving in Oakland. To all we say, plan ahead and go as soon as you can. It's worth it.

MTC District. Week One

These are some wonderful people:
Elder and Sister Julander from Bear River City, who are going for
Facilities Management in Winter Quarters,
Brother and Sister Ahlstrom, from Herriman Utah, who are going to the
Bolivian Temple,
And Brother and Sister Utt, from Salt Lake, who are going to the south
end of Mexico on a proselyting mission.
Also in the picture is Elder Hawkes (who is the son of one of Dads
classmates), and Elder Grossman. They were two of our instructors.
